9-Month Plan – Deep Recovery
Nine months gives your hair and scalp more room to recover from entrenched thinning, especially at the hairline and crown. After your initial 3–6 month gains, this phase is about consolidating progress—helping new growth blend in, supporting strand strength, and keeping the scalp comfortable so you can stay consistent. Your monthly subscription keeps treatment continuous while your clinician uses that longer track record to refine doses or supporting ingredients more precisely.

Frequently Asked Questions

IS PROGESTERONE THERAPY SAFE?

Progesterone – Is it right for me?

Progesterone can be very helpful for some people, but it isn’t the best choice for everyone. Your provider will review your history and decide if it fits safely into your plan.

Do not use progesterone if you:

  • Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy

  • Are allergic or sensitive to progesterone

  • Have ever had blood clots or clotting disorders

  • Have (or have had) breast, ovarian, cervical, or endometrial cancer

  • Have significant liver disease

  • Have had a missed or ectopic pregnancy

  • Have unexplained vaginal bleeding that hasn’t been evaluated

  • Have a history of stroke or reduced blood flow to the brain

  • Have had a heart attack or active coronary artery disease with chest pain/angina

  • Have uncontrolled major depression or other uncontrolled psychiatric conditions

  • Have dementia or another significant neurological disorder

Tell your provider before starting if you have:

  • Family history of breast or genital cancers

  • Family history of blood clots or known clotting disorders

  • Depression that isn’t well treated or stable

  • Endometriosis, diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney disease, or bone/bone density issues

  • Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), migraines, asthma, or epilepsy

  • A history of smoking

Medicines & procedures

  • If you take warfarin or other blood thinners, your dose may need adjustment while on progesterone

  • Your provider may have you stop progesterone before major surgery or during periods of prolonged immobility

Stop progesterone and contact your provider if you notice:

  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes

  • New or worsening vision changes

  • Signs of a clot (leg pain/swelling, chest pain, sudden shortness of breath)

  • A migraine that is unusually severe

  • A big increase in blood pressure

  • Severe depression or major mood changes

This information is for education only and doesn’t replace medical advice. Your provider is the best person to decide if progesterone belongs in your ongoing treatment plan.

RISK FACTORS OF-FINASTERIDE/DUTASTERIDE

Most people do well on finasteride or dutasteride when they’re used thoughtfully and monitored over time. Some may notice:

  • Sexual changes, such as lower libido, changes in erections, breast tenderness or fullness, or changes in sperm quality

  • Mood or cognitive changes, such as feeling low, anxious, or “foggy.”

These effects often improve after the medication is stopped, though in rare cases they may last longer. If you have a history of severe or untreated depression or another mental health condition, it’s a good idea to speak with a mental health professional and your prescriber before starting.

Because these medicines act on hormones:

  • They are generally not recommended if you have a personal history of breast or other hormone-sensitive cancers

  • They can lower PSA, a lab value used to monitor prostate health, so all of your healthcare providers should know you’re taking them

  • If you have or are at high risk for prostate cancer, or have symptoms like reduced urine flow or known BPH, you should discuss these medications with your urologist before starting

Always tell your provider about your full medical history and all medications or supplements you take. That helps us fit finasteride or dutasteride into a safe, long-term hair plan that can be adjusted if anything changes.

LATANOPROST SIDE EFFECTS

Latanoprost is used topically in small, targeted amounts to support fuller-looking density. Most people tolerate it well.

With topical use, some people may notice:

  • Mild itching or irritation where it’s applied

  • Slight redness or darkening of the skin in the application area

Because Latanoprost was originally developed for the eye area, it’s important to:

  • Keep it away from the eyes and eyelashes

  • Let your provider know if you have significant eye conditions or any new eye symptoms

If anything feels uncomfortable or doesn’t settle—such as persistent irritation or changes you’re unsure about—reach out to your care team. Latanoprost can always be reduced or removed as part of your ongoing, personalized plan.

TRETINOIN SIDE EFFECTS

With topical use, some people may notice:

  • Mild redness or warmth

  • Temporary dryness, peeling, or flaking

These effects are common early on and often improve as your skin gets used to the product. If the area feels very irritated or looks overly red, you can use your formula less often and reach out to your provider so your plan can be adjusted.

A few key points:

  • Avoid use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding

  • Keep out of reach of children

  • Avoid applying to sunburned, very irritated, or eczematous skin

  • Keep away from the eyes, mouth, and other mucous membranes

  • It’s helpful to protect treated areas from excessive sun exposure

If anything feels unusually uncomfortable or doesn’t settle, let your care team know—retinoic acid can always be reduced or removed as part of your ongoing, personalized formula.

NIACINAMIDE SIDE EFFECTS

Niacinamide is generally very well tolerated on the skin, which is why it’s a staple in our formulas.

With topical use, a small number of people may notice:

  • Mild redness

  • Itching

  • A slight burning or warming sensation

These are usually temporary and improve as your skin or scalp adjusts. If anything feels very uncomfortable, looks overly red, or you notice a rash, stop using the product on that area and let your provider know so your formula can be adjusted.

Because niacinamide can also be taken by mouth in other products or supplements, always share your full medication and supplement list with your care team. That helps us keep your routine simple, safe, and easy to stay consistent with over time.

MELATONIN SIDE EFFECTS

In our formulas, melatonin is used topically in small amounts to support scalp health and the hair cycle. Most people tolerate it very well.

With topical use, side effects are usually minimal. Some people may notice:

  • Mild redness or irritation where the product is applied

  • Occasional itching or dryness

When melatonin is taken by mouth, some people can experience things like headache, drowsiness, or mild stomach upset. If you have a history of seizures, significant mood disorders, or take medications that affect sleep or mood, let your provider know so they can decide if melatonin is appropriate for you.

If anything feels unusual or doesn’t settle, reach out to your care team. Melatonin can be reduced or removed from your formula as part of your ongoing, personalized plan.

HYDROCORTISONE SIDE EFFECTS

Most people tolerate it well. With longer use, topical steroids can be associated with:

  • Mild skin lightening

  • Thinning of the skin

  • More visible tiny blood vessels

  • Occasional acne-like breakouts

The good news: the scalp is one of the thickest skin areas on the body, and this low-strength preparation has a lower risk of thinning when used as directed.

Hydrocortisone in your formula is:

  • For scalp use only – do not use on your face or other body areas

  • For external use only – avoid contact with the eyes

  • Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and should be kept away from children

If you ever feel unsure about including a steroid in your formula, please don't hesitate to reach out. Your hydrocortisone can be reduced or removed as your scalp settles—many people adjust their formulation after the first few months as part of their ongoing, personalized plan.

SPIRONOLACTONE SIDE EFFECTS

Most people do well on spironolactone when it’s used thoughtfully and monitored over time. Some may notice:

  • Lowered blood pressure, dizziness, or feeling lightheaded

  • More frequent urination

  • Headaches

  • Breast tenderness or enlargement

  • Irregular or missed periods

  • Mild changes in hair texture or color

  • A distinct smell with some topical preparations

Because spironolactone can affect fluid and electrolyte balance, let your provider know if you have kidney problems, heart disease, adrenal or electrolyte issues, or a history of breast or other hormone-sensitive cancers. It should not be used if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding.

Spironolactone can interact with other medications and supplements, so always share your full medication list with your care team. Our goal is to make it part of a safe, ongoing plan that can be adjusted as your hair and health needs evolve.
